Sharp Zaurus/PointBase Demo

PointBase database and synchronization software provides Java developers with the infrastructure they need to build quality mobility solutions on laptops and mobile devices, including the Sharp Zaurus. PointBase product features include:

The KEY products utilized in the demo are PointBase Micro and PointBase UniSync:

PointBase Micro is a platform-independent Java database optimized to run on the J2ME™ (CDC and CLDC/MIDP) and J2SE™ platforms. It has an ultra-compact footprint (<45K for J2ME MIDP) and can be easily embedded within a Java application, making it transparent to users from the time of deployment.

PointBase UniSync is a Java API that allows developers to easily synchronize data between databases residing on mobile platforms and corporate back-end databases. It supports platform-independent, bi-directional synchronization with Oracle®, Microsoft SQL® Server™ and other JDBC-compliant databases.

The 'ContactManagerSync' demonstration is a personal contact organizer that can store images together with contact details. This demonstration combines the PointBase ContactManager demo with synchronization between databases. There are two ContactManager client applications that store data in separate PointBase Micro databases, one running on your Sharp Zaurus, the other on your desktop. You can add, delete, store and search both text and/or BLOB images, then synchronize your information between databases with PointBase UniSync.
