SANTA CLARA, Calif. – June 11, 2003 – PointBase, the leader in Java embedded database products for managing and synchronizing enterprise data across all platforms, today announced readers of Java Pro Magazine have awarded PointBase Mobile Database Technologies with UniSync the prestigious Java Pro Readers Choice Award, for excellence in the category of "Best Pure Java Packaged Client/Server or Distributed Application."

The announcement was made Tuesday night during the Java Technology Achievement Awards reception, held during the JavaOne conference now under way in San Francisco.

Heavy voting this year resulted in unusually close outcomes, Java Pro editors reported. By contrast, PointBase Micro with PointBase UniSync, currently in version 4.6, took a resounding victory in its category, with almost twice as many votes as the nearest competing product.

The annual Java Pro Readers’ Choice Awards, determined by qualified vote among the thousands of professional Java developers who read the influential journal, are closely watched in the industry.
