PointBase Wins Coveted Java Pro Reader's Choice Award
Readers of Influential Java Pro Magazine Vote PointBase Micro Java Database with UniSync "Best Pure Java Packaged Client/Server or Distributed Application"
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – June 11, 2003 – PointBase,
the leader in Java embedded database products for managing and synchronizing
enterprise data across all platforms, today announced readers of Java Pro Magazine
have awarded PointBase Mobile Database Technologies with UniSync the prestigious
Java Pro Readers Choice Award, for excellence in the category of "Best
Pure Java Packaged Client/Server or Distributed Application."
The announcement was made Tuesday night during the Java Technology Achievement
Awards reception, held during the JavaOne conference now under way in San Francisco.
Heavy voting this year resulted in unusually close outcomes, Java Pro editors
reported. By contrast, PointBase Micro with PointBase UniSync, currently in
version 4.6, took a resounding victory in its category, with almost twice as
many votes as the nearest competing product.
"Our product was up against compelling competition, making this user-voted
award all the more gratifying," said Bruce Scott, president and founder
of PointBase. "Meeting the requirements of distributed and mobile computing
without risking damage to data integrity is difficult and this award underscores
our continuing leadership in this field. Java Pro’s technologically sophisticated
readership has validated our approach and is telling the world we provide the
best data management solution for enterprise mobility.”
The annual Java Pro Readers’ Choice Awards, determined by qualified
vote among the thousands of professional Java developers who read the influential
journal, are closely watched in the industry. Products that receive the award
are those named by participating developers as having done the most in their
particular category to help advance enterprise Java development. This year’s
survey considered 23 product categories.
The winning PointBase Mobile Database suite includes components for Java developers
to create just the right products to meet the needs of their enterprise clients.
PointBase Embedded is designed for applications that require a full-featured
Java relational database. PointBase Micro, with its ultra-small memory footprint,
provides effective data management for rapid and efficient mobile enterprise
applications on a variety of current and emerging Java-enabled devices. PointBase
UniSync can bi-directionally synchronize a full copy or only changed data between
mobile devices and a master database, allowing enterprises to extend their
reach into the field. Mobile users can access and update data even while offline,
then synchronize the latest data when convenient.
