PointBase Micro Wins Best Mobile Database
PointBase® - A Winner in the Java Developer’s Journal 2002 Readers’ Choice Awards
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - October 03, 2002 – PointBase,
Inc., the leader in embedded Java™ database products for managing and
synchronizing enterprise data on all platforms, today announced that PointBase
Micro has been named “Best Mobile Database” in Java Developer’s
Journal 2002 Readers’ Choice Awards.
More than 30,000 JDJ readers cast their votes to select the best Java products
of the year in 29 different award categories from over 705 nominations. The
polls opened on the SYS-CON.com Web site on November 6, 2001 and ran through
September 23, 2002.
“We are delighted to learn that Java developers prefer PointBase Micro
over other mobile database offerings from companies such as Oracle, IBM and
Borland,” said Bruce Scott, PointBase president and CEO. “I founded
PointBase five years ago knowing that corporations would need applications to
mobilize their enterprise data and that a majority of those applications would
be developed in Java. It makes sense that developers who choose Java for their
mobility application development will choose our high performance PointBase
Micro as their database.”
The JDJ Readers’ Choice Awards have already become the most respected
media awards program of its kind and are informally referred to as the “Oscars”
of the software industry. Reflecting the continuing dynamism of the Java space,
this year JDJ added 7 new award categories including “Best Wireless Java
Product” and “Best XML Product” of the year. “For a
number of years now, SYS-CON Media has been setting the standard in allowing
the readers to determine what is a great product, and what is not,” said
Alan Williamson, editor in chief of Java Developer’s Journal. “As
Editor-in-Chief, I feel proud of JDJ’s proactive role in helping to facilitate
this community driven process.”
