MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - January 15, 2002 -- PointBase, the leader in Java™ database technology for managing and synchronizing enterprise data among servers, mobile and pervasive computing devices was awarded first place in the Application Development Trends Programmers Report 2001 Java Writer's Choice Awards. The widely read publication named PointBase Micro Edition the best new product in the database product category. The PointBase Embedded product received an honorable mention. The goal of the ADT Writer's Choice Awards is to spotlight exceptional examples of tools and technologies that help Java developers. The publication selected winners from more than 1,000 products and voters were comprised of 64 independent, seasoned Java professionals from around the world. According to ADT, this year's list of categories reflected an increased interest in wireless application development solutions. PointBase Micro is a very small footprint (45KB), pure Java database for applications running on a range of Internet appliances and smart devices. PointBase Micro is specifically designed for mobile computing applications and can be used as the foundation for building portable, database-driven, sync-enabled applications.
