PointBase Secures Financing From NEC
NEC investment is part of a $25 million round of financing to enable worldwide marketing of PointBase platform independent data management and synchronization products
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA., Sept. 20, 2000 PointBase, the leader in platform independent technology for data management and synchronization, announced today that NEC Corporation, Tokyo, participated in its $25 million E-series financing. The investment is supporting PointBase's efforts to penetrate emerging markets for multi-tiered data management and synchronization for mobile/wireless and embedded software applications.

"The investment will help us to solidify our position of worldwide leadership in mobile wireless data management and synchronization. NEC has a broad range of competencies that can benefit from all aspects of PointBase technology, from multi-tiered data management to mobile wireless device applications. In addition, our relationship will give us a major boost toward leadership in the Japanese market."

Goldman Sachs and JK&B Capital led the round of PointBase financing, announced in June, with participation by other well-known investors. PointBase now has received $37.5 million in financing. Other investors include DataMirror, Aspen Ventures and AVI Capital Management.
