Pointbase Announces $25,000 Application Contest

"Code for the Road" Contest is Open to Leading Mobile and Networked Java Applications

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 19, 2000 - PointBase, the leader in mobile wireless 100% Pure Java data management and synchronization products, today announced "Code for the Road," an application contest that will award $25,000 for the best Java application using PointBase data management products. The Grand Prize will also include the opportunity to have "breakfast with a VC" to discuss potential funding of the winning solution.

The contest is open to new and existing solutions that developers have written to SQL and JDBC standards. PointBase has established separate categories for "commercial developers" who are writing applications for resale, "in-house developers" who are creating solutions for use within their own businesses, and "personal developers" who are writing applications that may be posted as shareware or freeware within the Java community. The winner in each category will receive $5,000.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the JavaCon Developers' Conference in Santa Clara, California on September 26. PointBase will also highlight the winning solutions in its booth on the exhibit floor.
