PointBase Announces Availability Of PointBase Unisync v3.3 Universal Synchronization Option
Providing Breakthrough Data Synchronization That Ensures Data Uniformity and Availability for Distributed Data Management and Mobile Wireless Applications.
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, June 6, 2000 PointBase, the leader in mobile wireless 100% Pure Java data management products, today announced the availability of PointBase UniSync v.3.3 Universal Synchronization option for the PointBase family of data management solutions. UniSync ensures bi-directional synchronization between PointBase databases and major enterprise databases such as Oracle, IBM DB2, and Sybase.
"The increasing number of mobile workers and their hunger for data on-demand are forcing companies to re-tool their data management strategies," said Bruce Scott, president and CEO of PointBase "We created our universal synchronization capability to help companies manage their data anywhere, across any kind of network, at any time."
"UniSync 3.3 gives us the functionality we need to introduce our new Personal Knowledge Management System, which relies on API-based synchronization," said Bruce Lewolt, CEO of brainX.com, Inc., Thousand Oaks, Calif. "brainX replaces a student's yellow ink highlighter with a Mobil Digital Pen Scanner (MDPS). Once text is scanned and uploaded to a person's computer, brainX understands, organizes and presents the information in an entertaining and customizable way."
UniSync Universal Synchronization
The PointBase UniSync option enhances PointBase data management through synchronization that extends the reach of data to a large population of distributed and occasionally connected users. With UniSync, users can have accurate up-to-the-minute information for applications, including sales force automation, systems and network management, inventory management, and patient care.
UniSync enables Java developers to integrate data synchronization seamlessly into their distributed applications, including those on mobile wireless devices. Using the UniSync Application Programming Interface, developers can deliver synchronization as an integral part of a distributed application. Because synchronization is integrated transparently with the application, end-users are shielded from the complexities of configuring and synchronizing data and applications across complex network and systems environments.
PointBase UniSync Option enables companies to leverage their investments in existing databases and applications because it extends enterprise data across the Internet to distributed servers, laptops, wireless devices, and Internet appliances. The option supports enterprise systems, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, and Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere.
Release 3.3
This newest release of PointBase UniSync Option includes a number of enhancements, including: (1) conflict resolution (for automatically resolving conflicts that arise from multiple remote users who modify the same data on separate systems), (2) schema synchronization (for synchronizing database schema changes such as adding or deleting a table), and (3) validation (for automatically verifying compatibility of synchronized databases running in a dynamic environment).
