PointBase Selects Insignia's Accelerated Jeode Platform For Use With Java-Based Pointbase Mobile Edition for Windows Embedded

Fremont, Calif., May 9, 2000 Insignia Solutions® (Nasdaq:INSGY) and PointBase announced today that PointBase has selected the accelerated Jeode platform as its preferred Java virtual machine solution for use with PointBase data management solutions for the Windows Embedded family of operating systems, including Windows CE and PocketPC. As part of the strategic agreement, both companies will integrate and test their products with the other company's products to ensure optimal operation. In addition, Insignia and PointBase will seek opportunities to co-market and jointly sell their integrated solutions.

The Jeode platform is Insignia's accelerated implementation of Sun Microsystems' (Nasdaq:SUNW) PersonalJava and EmbeddedJava specifications tailored for Internet appliances and embedded devices. PointBase's family of products delivers powerful, Java-based data management specifically designed for mobile client applications and Web devices.
