PointBase Adds Six New Industry Partners

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 8, 2000 PointBase, the leader in mobile wireless data management led by Oracle Corporation co-founder Bruce Scott, today announced six new members to its QuickPoint Partners Program. The six are: Idetix, Inc., Troy, Michigan; Mortice Kern Systems, Inc. (MKS) (TSE:MKX), Toronto, Ontario; ProSyst Software AG, Cologne, Germany; THOUGHT, Inc., San Francisco; Timecruiser Computing Corp., Fairfield, N.J.; and Zat, Inc., Portland, Oregon. PointBase's QuickPoint program offers profitable opportunities for industry partners to develop, market and support database-driven solutions for e-commerce, mobile and Internet-enabled applications.

The QuickPoint program is built around PointBase's Mobile Edition and Network Server database products, which enable developers to create 100% Pure Java, distributed, database-driven applications that support e-commerce, mobile work forces and the distribution of enterprise data onto Internet appliances and devices. The program provides an unlimited number of free copies of the PointBase database for building demos and/or evaluation modules.

"The Java-oriented focus of QuickPoint is attracting exactly the kind of high-caliber developers we want to partner with cutting-edge, best-of-breed companies that intuitively appreciate the value-add of our embedded database for their applications," said Bruce Scott, president and CEO of PointBase "We welcome our new QuickPoint members and look forward to working with them to create the next wave of Internet applications for synchronizing and managing data."

"Internet companies desperately need a way to quickly build powerful database-enabled Web applications that are portable, not just across different servers, but to mobile devices and other platforms," said William Leler, President and Founder of Zat, Inc. "Bundling PointBase's Java database with Spin, Zat's Java IRAD (Internet Rapid Application Development) environment, makes building portable, standards-based database-enabled Web applications an order of magnitude faster and easier; easy enough even for non-programmers."

"We required a reliable, pure Java database to support Revize® our web content management application," said George Cameron, President of Idetix, Inc. "After evaluating several competitive offerings, we found the PointBase product to be superior in reliability and service. Furthermore, Idetix and PointBase are both customer-oriented companies and that has created a natural synergy between us."

"We have chosen to integrate our award-winning Timecruiser groupware products with PointBase simply because it is the most powerful and feature-rich RDBMS that fits our needs," said Anthony Ma, director of research, Timecruiser Computing Corp. "PointBase has a small footprint and is 100% Pure Java - which make it the ideal platform our company and our customers can depend on."

More About the PointBase QuickPoint Program
The PointBase QuickPoint program enables industry partners to produce a portable, pure Java, easy-to-download demo or evaluation software that includes a database and requires no database configuration. The program was designed to expand and enhance partner exposure to more prospects by building e-Business solutions entirely in Java. The program also provides the option to purchase a single-user full-function copy of the database with no limits on database size at a discounted price and to participate in software beta test programs. In addition, developers are eligible to participate in joint marketing and public relations initiatives and to be listed in PointBase's Partner Program website, which provides site visitors with a description of each partner's company profile and a link to the partner's own web site.
